April celebrates libraries (National Library Week) and poetry (National Poetry Month).
To honor both, as one of our activities during National Library Week, we encourage members of the law school community to submit Haiku entries for a "contest", Members of the community are then encouraged to vote for their favorite Haiku. Why Haiku? Former Dean Steve Willborn promoted Haiku writing during his tenure, and we've continued that tradition during National Library Week with the Haiku competition.
It's interesting to see the themes from each year. The 2020 submissions were during the pandemic shut down and the uncertainty of that period and shift to all online education clearly comes through. With the "return to normal" in the subsequent years, a variety of themes are woven into the submissions.
Who won? Last year's winner will is displayed in red!
